This course explores the fundamentals of sound and video. Students will learn the basics of both audio and video recording using audio field recorders and a variety of cameras (from the Panasonic Xacti through the Canon 5D D-SLR) as well as editing and exporting in Adobe Premiere. Students will work in teams to produce both an audio soundscape and a three-minute video short. This 2-credit course meets for the first seven weeks of the semester.

Again, this piece can be environmental, create space or mood, or tell a story through sound. Upload it to your site in mp3. Send me the url. Bring Pro Tools session, Audacity files, or Garageband file to class.
Option A: A 3 part video series that teaches us "How To..." do something. That "something" is up to you to decide. Let your imagination run wild. But whatever it is, your must teach us how to do it! Each video should be 1-2 mins in length, no shorter, no longer. And the 3 videos can be sructured however you like.
Option B: A 3-6 minute documentary on a specific street intersection in New York. This documentary can be about the intersection itself or about a character or group of characters that work or live at this intersection.
Option C: A 3-5 minute fake "kickstarter-esque" video for a product that doesn't yet exist. This should be shot and edited profesionally as if the product does exist and you are trying to raise funds for its completion.
